ACADEMIC YEAR IN IRELAND

This program is aimed at those students who want to spend an Academic Year in Ireland, either at Primary or Secondary School and living with an Irish family.

Irish Schools may be:

Boys or Girls Public School
Mixed (Boys and Girls) School.
Boys or Girls Private School

Students must follow all the rules and regulations at the Schools and the habits and norms of the families they are living with. They must obey and respect all these rules, unless they want to leave the School and/or even Ireland.

Academic Year in Ireland

The total duration of the academic year in Ireland consists of 10 months. It starts in September and finishes in June. Students must take all the Subjects in English. To avoid talking in another language, a maximum of 3 students from the same nationality and/or language are admitted at the same School at different levels.

We want our students to feel at home, and we offer them constant help and supervision. There are also personal tutors who will be in daily contact with the students, solving any academic or personal problem that may arise.

THE PROGRAM

This Program does not only consist in learning English but as a complement in the education of a client. Spending a year in Ireland allows you to acquire fluency in English through the culture and the language of the country.

The age of the participants for an Academic Year varies from 13 to 18 years old, living with an Irish family.

There is also the possibility to take a masters in English accepted by the Spanish Department of Education.

ENGLISH AS A WORLD LANGUAGE
In the Europe of 2001, all the frontiers for Business, Agriculture and Laws have already been erased. Nowadays, Learning Languages is the last step citizens need to achieve for the European Union to become a whole nation.
In our ideal world, everyone should learn and speak a few languages, such as Spanish, French, German, etc but we all know it is quite difficult.

However, in terms of the English language:
• More than 300 million people speak English as their first language (L1)
• More than 300 million people regularly speak English as their second language (L2) • More than 100 million people learn English as a Foreign language.

There is no doubt that the number of people that learn English as a foreign language increases more and more. The question to answer is: Why?

Because English is the main language used for:

* Books and newspapers
* Airports and international transports
* Business and international conferences
* Science and technology
* Medicine
* Sports and international competitions (the Olympics)
* Music and Marketing
* And… more than 66% of technical and scientific advances are published and read in English
* 75% of international mail is written in English
* 80% of computer software around the world is created in English
* More than 150 million people in 120 countries receive TV and Radio programmes in English

English is the official or second language in more than 60 countries, and is also used in more than other 20 countries as an official instrument.

Speaking of young people, English is extremely important for their personal and work development, and in order to achieve success in society:

* 50 million of young people study English at Primary Schools.
* 80 million study English at Secondary Schools
* And we have not included China yet…!!

In China, with a population of 1000 million people, the educational BBC TV programme for teaching English named “FOLLOW ME” managed to have an audience of 100 million people…

All this information may be unbelievable.

In conclusion, whether we like it or not, we must start learning or improving our English to survive in this modern world.

And if you decide to make this effort, please ask IRLANDA EN RED for information, and we will be delighted to help you find the English Course or the Work in Ireland you are looking for.

WHY LEARN ENGLISH AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE

Our children deserve all the opportunities we might not have had in our youth. That is why we should help them recieve the best education for their future.

Learning English may be the first very thing they should do for themselves. Many children start to learn English when they are around 13 or 14 years old. Why?

Because at school, our children cannot focus on studying English as they have many others subjects to take, such as Maths, Literature, etc

English is considered as the business passport at many employments and for many companies; and everyday more and more managers force their workers to improve their fluency of English.

In conclusion: why not improve our English before then?

IRELAND AS A DESTINY FOR YOUR ACADEMIC YEAR

Ireland is a very respected country within Europe. It has a population of 4.5 million people and there are more than 800 schools with around 450.000 students throughout the country.

Besides, Ireland is proud to have one of best educational systems and the youngest populations within Europe.

The Irish system retains the best of traditional education, but is also open to any learning improvement that may come arise in the future.

That explains the outstanding progress of the country and why Irish workers are demanded to work anywhere around the world.
